Keep Showing Up: Lessons from the Tour de France & Real Estate

Every summer my FAVORITE sporting event makes it’s way into my life and I look forward to watching it every evening…The Tour de France.

This summer, as I watched the cyclists of the Tour de France push themselves through brutal mountain climbs, blistering heat, and endless miles, I was instantly reminded of my own journey, not just in real estate, but way back during my cross-country ride with Bike & Build.

There’s something about being on a bike that teaches you resilience. I remember days on that ride when I thought I had nothing left in the tank… and then we’d hit a hill. Sound familiar?

Fast forward to today, and real estate is its own kind of endurance race. The ups and downs of this business , deals that fall apart at the last minute, homes that don’t appraise, repair surprises, or timelines that shift. This can feel like hitting the wall halfway through a climb. But here’s what I learned from both my time on the bike and in this business: you just have to keep showing up.

That’s me — exhausted, sunburned, and so proud. I had no idea how much this ride would prepare me for a career where showing up for people matters more than anything. This picture was taken on one of our hardest days in Colorado. Did I show up that day? ABSOLUTELY.

When a buyer loses out on a house they loved, I show up.

When a seller feels overwhelmed, I show up.

When nothing is going as planned, I show up with a plan B (and sometimes a plan C.)

This month alone has been full of curveballs — but also a few really beautiful wins: a first-time buyer closing on their dream home after months of searching, a listing going under contract after months of off and on the market, and a few moments where I got to remind my clients (and myself) that perseverance pays off.

Just like in the Tour de France, not every day is a sprint. Some days, it’s just about staying in the race.

Whether you’re buying a home, chasing a goal, or simply navigating a tough season…don’t stop. Keep showing up. That’s where the transformation happens.

NC2SD just celebrated the 10 year anniversary of our treck across America. I’ll never forget it and all that the journey taught me. Here’s to the long roads, the uphill climbs, and the beautiful views when you least expect them.
